Different nu met kap

Piet Kunis stuurt een filmpje waar de kap open en dicht gaat. Zelfs de eerste keer werkt het al prima. Ook de passing is al verrassend goed. Nu al is goed te zien hoe makkelijk je de fiets in- en uitstapt. Ook het sleutelen aan de aandrijving en besturing kan zelfs zittend op een keukenstoel gebeuren.

    Wees gerust, Wim, de kwaliteit van het filmpje doet niets af aan de kwaliteit van de Different.

    The fact that "Different" is the first velomobile that does not use a chain from front to back could make it possible to expand it into the first foldable (or disassemblable) carbon velomobile. This could once and for all solve the issue of transport in a station wagon or by train. I know that a disassemblable version would create a myriad of problems in terms of stability and additional weight, but the chance to, for example, exchange different front and rear parts (thereby also solving the size issue) is very enticing. Or the idea that one could simply have a version with a pedelec hub motor in the back, effectively having 1 1/2 velomobiles that could either operate purely on muscle power or as a pedelec version, sounds very appealing in my opinion.

    In part, I agree with you.. And there are also possibilities in the current version, to transport it easily. The complete bike is 272 cm long and 67.5 cm wide. Without the tail.. And the rear wheel (both of which are very easy to remove) the bike is only 240cm long. The hinged top cover can also be removed without tools.

    I don't think making the entire body divisible is a good idea, it will be very complex and will inevitably be at the expense of stiffness and weight.

    Because the rear wheel now rotates empty, it can (if desired) be easily exchanged for a wheel with an electric motor.

    Wat wordt dit mooi!! Ik kijk elke keer weer met genoegen naar de updates. Ik kijk nu al uit naar de eerste keer de Different live te zien. Veel succes met de komende stappen, dit gaat zeker goed komen!
