Jan Reus en Piet Kunis werken onverdroten voort aan de Different. Zoals lezers hier weten wordt dit een velomobiel met achterwiel besturing ala Velayo. Jan Reus, één van Neerlands topmensen waar het gaat om werken met carbon en epoxy, heeft een schaalmodel 1:5 gemaakt. Uiteraard gaat Jan ook de uiteindelijke Different in carbon en epoxy uitvoeren. En vergeet Piet Kunis niet. Piet was voor de uitvoering van vrijwel alle technische details, samen met Bram Smit, verantwoordelijk voor de techniek in de VeloTilt.
Omdat de voorwielen niet hoeven te sturen kan de fiets relatief smal gemaakt worden. Met alle moderne inzichten qua aerodynamica ontstaat een wel heel fraaie fiets.

De volgende post gaat over een bezoek van Piet en Jan aan een Velayo eigenaar. Piet's commentaar nadat hij in de Velayo heeft gereden:'Mosterd na de maaltijd .... maar toch wel lekker'.

Ziet er mooi uit; ben benieuwd hoe achterwielbesturing rijdt. Verder zou mijn wens zijn dat die ook lekker stil is.

What was the problem with the Velotlt from an aerodynamic perspective. On Youtube there was reference to the boundary layer growing the farther the air traveled along the body, then there was a collision with the boundary layers of the rear wheels. Can you explain the upshot of the Velotilt failure, or point me towards a blog post that explains it? Thank you. I just read of your purchase of a Tesla, which coincides with my ride this morning to Hawk Hill overlooking the Golden Gate in San Francisco. There was a parade of Teslas on "our" cycling road. No, VeloTilt has nothing to do with the Different. I was the initiator of VeloTilt. Piet Kunis and Jan Reus have started Different.
VeloTilt is not further developed by me mainly because of a health problem. Mike Lecka in the USA is now working on VeloTilt to bring it to the market. Another reason to handover the VeloTilt to Mike is price. The VeloTilt would have be priced around 12.000 euro's. For that amount there is only a very small market. In the USA Mike thinks of a price of 10.000 USD, that is a better price point.
I am riding a Tesla since novembre 2013. Great pleasure.
